Messsage from the Mayor of Bottesford

"Hello everyone, I would like to start by saying a big thank you to all the residents for attending the Bottesford celebration of Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The turn out was amazing and it was good to see the cold didn't deter residents from attending.

I must thank the Clerk, Lesley Liddle and her assistant Anne Bradley, who started this process in February! Thank you to all the staff at Bottesford Town Council, our Councillors and Volunteers who have worked hard to plan and organise this special event.

I am sure there was something for everyone! Thank you to Scunthorpe CAMRA beer club for setting up and providing the bar and helping out on the day. A great big thank you to the local Companies who kindly sponsored the beers and ciders and prizes. This meant more funds for Lindsey Lodge Hospice! Thank you to Jon Clayton a Bottesford artist who came along to judge the paintings and offer inspiration to the youngsters.

You may have noticed the fire engine - many thanks to Red Watch at Humberside Fire & Rescue for coming along and a special thanks to our Classic Car Owners for giving up their time and bringing along their prized vehicles.

Thank you to the Bottesford Bakers who made a judging decision very difficult for Cakes by Andrea. Our local craft groups did Bottesford proud with very talented items on display from Jenny Ashton quilting group and Knit and Natter.

We were all pleasantly surprised to see so many Bottesford Dogs enter the bonny dog competition. Thank you to Messingham dog groomer Michelle for popping down to choose the winner.

All monies raise from the sale of refreshments, beer, cider and the raffle will go to the Mayor's Charity Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
And finally a thank you to the Children of Bottesford infant school for taking part in the Portrait of the Queen competition. (The winning entry will be sent to the Queen)
I was a marvelous day and certainly brought the Community together"

Cllr John Davison
